Shrewsbury Town fan Tony Lucas was busy working at Murcia Airport in Spain last week when he saw a face he recognised – Gary Peters, the former Shrewsbury manager.
“He didn’t think he would be recognised,” says Tony, who has lived in Spain for six years.
“He was a very nice gentleman,” says Tony of the former Town supremo. “He said he still keeps in touch with Roland Wycherley.”
Tony had toyed with flying back to England and getting a ticket for Wembley but was put off by the high price of flights.
Instead he was watching the game in a Playa Flamenca pub with his friends, having been given the afternoon off by his boss.
“I do wish I was there, though,” he admits.
