Shawbury are searching for their third manager of the season after Matt Flanagan resigned from the West Midlands League premier division club.

Flanagan, who only joined the Wem-based outfit in November, stepped down in the wake of Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Dudley Sports.

“There were a few things off the field that were not going that well,” said Flanagan, who had previously spent two-and-a-half years at Shifnal United ‘97 in the County Premier League.

“After the Darlaston game last month there were a few views aired from members of the committee and myself and I don’t think we were on the same wavelength.

“We had three weeks to try and get the enthusiasm back but, even after winning on Saturday, it didn’t feel great.”

Chairman Wayne Price insists he is hoping to make an announcement over a replacement for Flangan – whose assistant Dan Drayton also left the club – after Saturday’s home game with Wolverhampton Casuals.

Shawbury are currently 11th in the league but have played more games than many sides in mid-table.
