The Bucks’ current run of bad form continued last night with a 2-0 loss away to Blyth Spartans, writes AFC Telford blogger Joe Davies.
With Andy Brown unable to play two games in a row due to the Achilles injury he has been struggling with for a few weeks now, Carey-Bertram still injured and Terry Fearns still serving an in-house suspension, it left Mark Danks as the only recognised striker available.
With that in mind, and the recent run of form and Saturday’s FA Trophy semi-final second leg, it’s no real surprise that we were not at our best.
It leaves us in a difficult position now: fourth place, 11 points behind leaders Gateshead albeit with four games in hand.
Tamworth and Southport have the upper hand though with 9 and 5 points more than us and both with games in hand.
We need to get our act together again soon in order to get somewhere this season. We started off so well, but with all the injuries we have had, we are now struggling at an important time.
Hopefully we can get a few players back on the field and pick up a few results and make sure we end the season strongly.
The league title is not over yet and even if we don’t make it, we can then go into the play offs on the back of some good results and with confidence flowing.
We also need to get our players back for the Setanta Shield final.
There’s still a long way to go this season. We are still fighting on three fronts and with a little bit of luck we can still end this season on a high.
