The winners of the 2008 Chronicle Cricket Knockout will finally be decided . . . on Sunday, April 26, 2009.
The match between Shrewsbury and Newport was called off twice in September due to bad weather but organisers have refused to let it quietly be forgotten, finally agreeing a new date.
The game will be played at the original venue of Madeley with a 12.30pm and will now give the two finalists a chance to start the new season with a piece of silverware.
Players signed by either club since the end of the 2008 season will still be eligible to play – unless they played in the competition for another team.
“We’re seven months behind schedule but it’s better late than never,” said spokesman Clive Smith.
