Nolan sister Maureen Nolan is to tread the boards at Shrewsbury’s new theatre in the lead role in Blood Brothers.
Blood Brothers will be the first professional large-scale musical to visit Shropshire for more than 30 years and comes to Shrewsbury’s new showpiece theatre from June 1 to 6.
And bosses behind the show have revealed Nolan will take on the much-coveted lead role of Mrs Johnstone for the 2009 National Tour.
Programme and marketing manager for the new theatre, Adam Burgan, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Maureen Nolan will be coming to Shrewsbury to star in Blood Brothers. She played the role in the West End for two years, which is incredible. We are incredibly excited to be bringing shows and artists of this calibre to Shropshire and tickets are selling very well.”
Nolan is best known for her success as part of one of Europe’s first “girlbands”, The Nolans.
The Nolans’ success is legendary, with eight UK hit records and phenomenal record sales in Japan that outweigh even The Beatles, where the girls scooped an impressive six number ones.
