This week’s pictures from the past

Tedsmere Hope School, Baschurch, Salop

This postcard shows “Tedsmere Hope School, Baschurch, Salop” and handwritten on the back is “Entered into rest on May 5, 1906, Sarah, widow of Thomas Price, aged 91.
Interred at Baschurch May 7.” In the address box is simply written “Lizzie”. This photo features in a new book, Around Oswestry, by David Trumper and Ray Farlow, which is being launched on Saturday with a signing session by Ray from noon onwards at the Moreton Park garden centre at Gledrid, near Oswestry.

The book, which contains more than 200 old images, gives the information that Tedsmere Hope School was an establishment for teaching young ladies and was run by Miss Ellen Price, the lady on the left.

The old lady in the centre is Miss Price’s mother, Sarah, and the lady on the right is her sister Clara.

I remember the coronation in 1953………in other words H.R.H. was not yet queen and therefore, not a reigning monarch.

However, nice photo and thanks for sharing it.
