When the Queen came to Shrewsbury in 1952 it was the first official visit to the town by a reigning monarch since 1914, and was also one of the first royal visits of her reign.
She and the Duke of Edinburgh - he’s the person on the left with his head turned - visited Shrewsbury School in its 400th anniversary year.
This photograph was loaned by Mrs Margaret Taylor, of Broseley, whose husband Ron was in the guard of honour in this shot.
We’re not certain of the exact location but we’re guessing that it was at Shrewsbury Castle.

I remember the coronation in 1953………in other words H.R.H. was not yet queen and therefore, not a reigning monarch.
However, nice photo and thanks for sharing it.
