Managers at Shrewsbury’s new £28 million theatre have added an extra performance by poet Pam Ayres to cope with the high demand for tickets.
Tickets for An Evening with Pam Ayres sold out just two weeks after going on sale on November 21.
The new theatre seats 638 people but demand for tickets is so high theatre managers have added a second show, on February 25 at 7.30pm.
Adam Burgan, programme and marketing manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to add a second performance from Pam Ayres – she last came to Shrewsbury in 2004 but we haven’t been able to bring her back to the Music Hall as we were simply too small a venue.
“As soon as I heard she was touring in spring 2009, I invited her to Theatre Severn and now we have the larger theatre, she accepted.
“The demand for tickets has been so high we’ve been able to persuade her to come for two performances.”
