Plans for cable to go on public show

Proposals for a 132,000-volt electricity cable across Mid Wales were due to go on display to the public today.

Electricity chiefs plan to put up the new line between Welshpool and Llandinam.

Their proposals will be unveiled at a public consultation session in Dolfor Village Hall between 2pm and 8pm.

Glyn Davies, prospective Conservative parliamentary candidate for Montgomeryshire, said the line was being put up to help with the increasing amount of energy generated from Llandinam Windfarm.

He said pylons as high as 80m would be built to make way for the line.
