Comments have already been posted on the Shropshire Star’s website today after news broke of Hope’s death at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

John Woodyatt, from the Shrewsbury-based Isaiah 58 Project, which helps families in need, has been working with Laura, 18, and Aled, 28, in their search to find a home. They couple currently live with Laura’s mother Wendy Rackham.

He said: “We are very saddened to hear Hope has passed away. All the churches will be praying for the baby and her family and will be praying for Faith’s continuing health.

“The Salvation Army in Telford has got contacts and are trying to arrange a house for them from the church side of things.”

Managers at Veolia Environmental Services, the contractors for Shropshire Waste Partnership where Aled used to work, today said they were sorry to hear of Hope’s death.

Cleansing supervisor Darren Hurdsman said: “It’s really sad. Everyone at Veolia at Weeping Cross depot sends their condolences to Laura and Aled. It’s a real shame.

“It’s good news that Faith is doing OK though.”

Councillor Eileen Sandford, who looks after the couple’s Harlescott ward, said: “They knew unfortunately there was a grave risk and if one survives, that’s great.

“It was worth the choice, it was a hard choice, but one which I support and I hope that the young couple will carry on.”

On the Shropshire Star’s website, comments are pouring in to pay tribute to Hope and send sympathies to the couple.

Zoe said: “Sleep well little baby. I’m thinking of the family at this time and sending all my luck to Faith”, while Laura said: “My heart goes out to all the friends and family of baby Hope.

“My heart sank when I heard the news. Wishing baby Faith all the luck in the world.”

On the website, Tracey said: “My heart goes out to all of the family, I hope Faith has the strength to bring them some happiness.”

And Karen said: “I will be thinking of the family and of their daughters, rest in peace Hope and be strong Faith.

“You’re all in our thoughts and prayers.”
