Has Perkins found love at last?

Perkins the dog has become something of a celebrity since announcing he was searching for love.

The Jack Russell has a number of would-be suitors lined up, and at the weekend went on his first date with Minnie the Yorkie.

The pair were both dressed up to the nines for their big day out together. But was Perkins what Minnie was looking for? This is what she thought:

“It’s been a while since I’ve had a date and I couldn’t wait to meet the dapper-sounding Perkins after spotting his picture on the internet.

“We arranged to meet in a mutual spot by the Weir in Castlefields on Saturday where I often go for walks and I made sure I took my owner Christy Robinson  along – just for safety. As a proud Yorkshire Terrier, I spent a while picking out my best clothes and trotted along with my tail held high.

“As I saw Perkins – a handsome Jack Russell terrier, my heart began to pound – he looked just like  his picture. There he was wearing a smart black bow tie. He looked me up and down and then bounded forward to greet me. 

“Once he was off his lead, he was a bit forward, and not the most romantic, but his owner John Roberts made sure he behaved – to a certain extent.

“We amused ourselves for about half an hour. At nearly six, this could be my last chance to be a mother. Perkins was a gentleman, and asked for me to come round again today.

“But I am a little bit worried as I overheard John tell my Christy Perkins was a typical “Jack-the lad” and already has other dates lined up. I can’t expect a handsome pooch like Perkins to be loyal . . . I’ll just be lucky to have his pups, which I’m sure will be just as good looking. Then again, he must be a bit desperate – he’s the one whose owner put a story in the paper for a date for him.

“Christy thought he’d be the perfect way for me to become a mum. I’m not sure he’s the one but I’ll see how our next date goes.”
