More than 2,000 football fans packed out AFC Telford United’s stadium to remember the heroes fighting for the country at a special Armed Forces theme day.
Bosses at AFC Telford United organised the event to run during Saturday’s home game against Gateshead which saw the borough side win 1-0.

The special event saw hundreds of former and current Armed Forces personnel arrive at the ground with their families.
Jonathan Martin, AFC Telford United commercial relationships manager, said: “It was a real success. Everyone had a fantastic time and I believe it was the second biggest league crowd of the season.
“Two local, Gurkha families led the two-minute silence with the standard bearer from the Royal British Legion.” Serving members of the Armed Forces, along with retired members enjoyed free entry to the game, while their family members paid a reduced price of £5.
Mr Martin added: “The gate numbers reached 2,086, even though this was the first time we’ve done it.
“As a community football club, we want to make sure we look at and thank all areas of the community who do such a fantastic role.”
Mr Martin said it will now become an annual event.
