Premiere of Opik’s Bollywood movie

Saturday 25th October 2008, 11:00AM BST

Lembit OpikMontgomeryshire MP Lembit Opik is to make his big screen debut tonight when the Bollywood film he starred in is given its premiere.

The Liberal Democrat has filmed a part in a short film called Dream Girl, which will be shown for the first time in Machynlleth.

The film, made by Film 15 Production, was shot in locations across Mid Wales, including Newtown, over the summer, and features many Powys youngsters.

Mr Opik said: “It was top class film-making in a Mid Wales setting. Filming took place in three locations across Mid Wales with a significant part of the production being done at Aberystwyth University in their specially designed film studios.

“The young people learned about Bollywood acting and dancing under the expert guidance of Bollywood actor Mayur Raj Verma and veteran celebrated Bollywood writer and director Sneh Lata Verma, with professional choreographer Hema Houssin.

“Film 15 Productions took a further 20 young people on to the production team where they learned how to operate professional equipment and gained an insight into the film industry first-hand.” The film is a tale of a boy’s first love with a Bollywood twist and is set to be premiered in Machynlleth tonight to a selective audience.

Mr Opik added: “The full scale Bollywood dance production in the film should raise some eyebrows in the town.

“I am delighted to have been able to support such pioneering work.”

Lembit gets paid to SERVE the people yet he is now better known for dating a weather girl then a cheeky girl and now starring in a Bollywood film.

All I ask is how on earth does he find time to do the job he is paid to do ?

Y Mab: Well I think Lembit is just honest about how much time MPs have to lark around rather than kid us how busy they are to justify their expenses.
He may make a fool of himself, but he’s nit trying to fool the electorate!
