Helen LeathersDo you see ghosts? Are you interested in developing your psychic abilities – but don’t know how?

Church Stretton’s Helen Leathers is hoping to come to the rescue with her new book, which covers everything from how to see auras to the risks of using a ouija board.

“Help! I Think I Might Be Psychic”, written with Hertfordshire-based Diane Campkin, aims to answer 101 frequently asked questions about “spiritual, psychic, and spooky stuff.”

And what is the question she is most often asked?

“It’s… can anybody do it?” says Helen. “And the answer is yes. Everyone can do spiritual psychic development work to a greater or lesser extent. We have run courses and workshops, and not once has somebody not been able to do something we have asked them to do.

“Our belief is every single one of us is a spiritual being and can dip into the spiritual side of life. You need to have some guidance.

“We have been asked these questions in workshops or courses. There must be many other people who have asked those questions and have no-one to ask them of.

“We are also very keen to put across that they are just our answers. We are not standing up saying they’re the right answers. They’re our opinions, really. Who can give a definitive answer to an esoteric question?

“We believe there’s no other book available like this. We think it will help people and potentially change people’s lives.”

Helen grew up taking her psychic abilities somewhat for granted, and started doing Tarot readings as a schoolgirl.

“If you spoke to my mum, she would say I saw Spirit from a baby. I don’t remember a lot of it. I would talk about the lady standing in the kitchen, or walking through the house or the garden.

“We grew up in a very haunted house, but it was not haunted in a bad way.

“Help! I Think I Might Be Psychic”, written with Hertfordshire-based Diane Campkin, aims to answer 101 frequently asked questions about “spiritual, psychic, and spooky stuff.”“There was always Spirit around. We used to hear people going up and down the stairs and walking through the rooms.”

Her sensitivity to the spirit world in the house – it dated from 1906 – was shared by her mother and grandmother.

“It’s a family trait,” said Helen, who was born in North London and brought up in Hertfordshire.

She moved to Church Stretton in 2004.

“I think any child with any gift thinks that it’s normal, because that’s their frame of reference.”

This underlying use of gut instincts and intuition has always been with her and she has done card and psychic readings, and has been involved in courses and workshops.

“It’s part of my life. It is who I am. Sometimes I will have information in the form of dreams. Sometimes I will be woken in the night with information. I do help people who have paranormal activity in their homes.

“Sometimes they’re at their wit’s end and don’t know what to do about it, it’s getting so severe. Whether that’s a perceiving thing or a real thing is of no particular relevance – it’s real for the person experiencing it.”

She respects the opinions of those who are sceptical, and says there are charlatans out there in just the same way that there are dodgy builders.

But she says: “I never seek to prove my belief to anybody. To someone who would say to me ‘prove it’, I would say ‘disprove it.’”

Helen, who works with her husband John in his graphic and multi media design business called Titanium Design, does not profess to be able to tell the future as such, but can help identify paths and choices.

“Our hopes are that the book will be extremely successful. But I can’t control people’s buying power. People have a misconception of what a psychic is. You don’t always know the outcome. There are so many other factors involved.”

“Help! I Think I Might Be Psychic” costs £7.95 and is available through www.helpithinkimightbepsychic.com, or by ordering through a bookshop.
