Human resources consultant and life coach, Liz MorrisA Shropshire mother today joined forces with Britain’s two largest parenting charities to launch a national survey gathering the experiences of women who have returned to work following maternity leave.

Human resources consultant Liz Morris, of Pontesbury, near Shrewsbury, aims to use the research to develop free “tool kits” that can both support women returning to work and help companies manage a smooth re-integration into the workplace.

Her research is being supported by the UK’s leading charity on pregnancy, birth and early childhood, The NCT and the family support charity Working Families.

“A woman’s return to the workplace after having children is often a mixture of emotions – happy, exciting, stressful and worrying,” said Mrs Morris, a mother-of-two, who herself encountered difficulties on her return to a senior management position within a large organisation.

“Women often face real anxieties about juggling their new family and work commitments. And employers frequently have concerns about the practicalities of flexible working and commitment.”

Mrs Morris, now a freelance consultant, also works as a life coach, based at Shrewsbury’s Natural Health Centre, helping men and women to develop their careers.

The online survey, available until November 30 at www.mumsgoingbacktowork.com, is open to women who have returned to work after maternity or adoption leave in the past 12 months.
