Vandals left a trail of destruction in their wake after going on a wrecking spree through a Telford community today.
Police said a school community centre and a doctors’ surgery were all targeted.
They were hit as the louts went on the rampage through the Priorslee Avenue area of Priorslee this morning.
Pupils and staff at Priorslee Primary School were among the victims after plants they had been growing were destroyed.
A scarecrow that had been made by pupils was also damaged during the vandals’ attack.
The surgery had windows smashed, while Priorslee Community Centre, next to the school, was also left counting the cost after rocks were used to smash windows there.
Police said although the financial value of the damage was relatively small, the cost to the community was great.
The vandals left rubbish strewn about the community centre and school complex, police said.
Constable Olly Lawrence, of West Mercia Police’s Telford division, said: “Sunflower heads were ripped off and thrown through the community centre window and a trade waste bin was up-ended and tipped out.
“We believe this criminal damage took place between midnight and 4am.
“I urge anyone with information or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area overnight to get in touch on 08457 444888.”
