A Shropshire pub which left a village without a place to drink when it closed could be open by Christmas.
The Kynnersley Arms, in Leighton, closed its doors in March.
Residents in the village, between Shrewsbury and Telford, were forced to set up their own “community pub” in the village hall.
But Leighton and Eaton Constantine parish council clerk Roger Pittaway today said a solution was in sight.
Councillor Malcolm Corrie is currently trying to get the lease back from the company it is currently with.
Mr Pittaway said: “Malcolm knows a couple and they want to open it by Christmas as a free house and then they will concentrate on getting the food up and running.”
