One Fat Lady to give talk

One of TV’s original “celebrity chefs” is to pay a visit to Shrewsbury, it was announced today.

Clarissa Dickson Wright, a star of the BBC’s Two Fat Ladies series, will be talking about the exploits outlined in her best-selling autobiography, on October 15.

Organisers of the event are hoping the special appearance will help put Shrewsbury on the map.

The evening, at the Allington Hall in Shrewsbury School, has been arranged by Susan Caroline of the town’s Pengwern Books.

She said: “We are delighted that Clarissa has agreed to come to Shrewsbury - we have already sold several hundred tickets for her talk and more are available.

“It promises to be a highly entertaining event as the autobiography highlights a life packed with spectacular success, failure on a grand scale and a willingness to put herself on the line.”

Tickets cost £8 from Pengwern Books at 23 Princess Street, Shrewsbury.
