More than 70 jobs could come to the Oswestry area with the opening of new business centre on the historic Brynkinalt estate. The estate has had to diversify to safeguard its future.
The country estate, which straddles the Shropshire/ Welsh border, is owned by the Trevor family.
Today, the Honourable Iain Hill-Trevor said he hoped the business centre could soon have upwards of 70 people employed there.
One business has already moved into the centre, employing six people, and there is interest from other companies with interests ranging from marketing to science.
The 14,500 sq feet of space has been divided into small and medium-sized offices.
Mr Hill-Trevor said that as well as jobs created by those taking the offices, there would be support service jobs for local people. An eco-friendly bio-mass heating system has secured the jobs of two foresters.
Conservation officers have worked with the estate to ensure the buildings, the hall’s former laundry, sawmill and dairy, retained their traditional look, while, Mr Hill-Trevor said, providing contemporary offices.
“Our aim was to provide a creative, inspiring and impressive environment in which to do business,” he said.
“The refocusing of the estate has also seen seen the creation of an industrial estate at Gledrid and we hope companies will respond to the chance of having high quality, rural office space close to their business unit.”
