Two young women who lost their lives on the same stretch of road between Oswestry and Ellesmere have been honoured with the opening of a memorial garden.
In a poignant ceremony, six-year-old Keenan Batha cut the ribbon to open the garden at Ellesmere Primary School.
Keenan’s mum, 24-year-old Corrine Thomas was one of three people killed in an accident on the A495, near Hindford, in May.
The garden is also dedicated to Hayley Roberts, 17, who died in an accident in December 2006.
Hayley had been a pupil at Ellesmere Primary School, while Corrine worked there.
Richard Pallett, headteacher, said: “This garden is a living and growing thing and I am sure Hayley and Corrine would have loved watching the children enjoy it.”
The families of Hayley and Corrine were among the guests at the opening.
