TNS bid to keep up unbeaten record

The New Saints, still one of four unbeaten sides in the Welsh Premier, will look to keep up the early pressure when they tackle Porthmadog at Park Hall tomorrow.

A last-gasp goal in the 1-1 draw at Llanelli ensured the Saints’ record remained intact.

With two of the league’s other unbeaten sides, Rhyl and Aberystwyth Town, coming face to face, tomorrow’s action represents a fine chance for TNS to steal a march on their rivals.

The Saints have not lost at home to Porth for 11 years, but the Oswestry-based side will not take anything for granted, particularly as the visitors include the predatory striker Marc Lloyd-Williams, a record goal scorer when with TNS.

“We’ve certainly got to watch out for Marc as his goalscoring record speaks for itself,” said assistant manager Mike Davies. “Although it’s early days, we don’t want to let points slip at this stage.”

The Saints may also bring in a new signing before Sunday’s transfer deadline as the look bolster their squad.

Welsh Premier rivals Technogroup Welshpool, meanwhile, have made a move to bring striker Aden Shannon back to the club.

Shannon, who had been a target of Caersws, is formerly of Cefn Druids and Welshpool while is currently with Gap Connah’s Quay where he has made just one start this term.
