    Very evocative work.
Conveys concisely ‘Mans’ eternal struggle to ever put anything of any visual depth or intellectual value upon its road traffic islands.
Don’t know who this Grant is but he’s taking the tax payers to the cleaners on a regular basis.

Very Good! It’s inspired me to make something but I’m not quite sure what to make. hmmm?

    Lucy W - you could make a cake! ;o)
Chocalate or carrot cake are always nice

Y: What? And put it on a traffic island in Telford? It would get either nicked, thrown at passing cars or eaten by the 1 in 3 Child who is supposedly in poverty because Huw says they dont have Nike trainers.

Councillor Bentley says the sculpture may be a “distraction to motorists” does he?
Is he a member of the same council who put that awful £30,000 monstrosity on Forge Island in Telford about 10 years ago?
Time to practice what you preach!

    Oh for God’s sake - !!!!!!!!!

I CANNOT BELIEVE I’ve JUST READ THIS !!!!!

    extract:

Councillor Steve Bentley, cabinet member for the environment said: “Unfortunately, we would have to remove the sculpture from the highway for safety reasons as it is a distraction to motorists.

What IS the problem with our pathetic councillors ! As IF we can’t drive past a damned ” ET wants to go home structure” ?? safely??

I really do think we have become such a pathetic bunch of useless wimps, that we all might as well give up all hope!

And what about all the damned markings on the EP added lately ? Chevrons, white lines, dotted lines, signs telling you how many injured last 2 years etc etc ( people injured becuase motorists were too damn busy reading signs than watching the road …)

I’d say these were far more distracting.

And again … what a pathetic bunch we’ve all become !

Good idea Cllr Bently, so refreshing to hear some common sense spouting from the orifices of our duly elected representatives. And while you’re at it, why don’t you flatten the Wrekin just in case someone on the A5 takes a glance at it? Honestly *tut*

Lucy W - I would suggest that if that piece of artwork is distracting then T & W should remove all the monuments on roundabouts in the area - inclding the 3 guns on the roundabout at Donnington, the Minors wheel up at Madeley and the silly Pyramid monument near the town centre.

And those signs telling us how many casulties on the EP should be removed as well.

I should be a T & W councillor - that would be my workload for the rest of the year completed in one morning

if you don’t want to be a “distraction” leave it alone and stop going on about it

Y Mab; Your talent would be wasted as a Councillor - You should be PM - VOTE Y MAB FOR PM!

    I agree Lucy W - I should be PM.

    My first laws would be

    1) Borders closed to people seeking asylum.

    2) Higher Pensions for OAP’s who are deserving of them.

    3) All benefits cancelled via cash instead tokens for food and energy will be issued instead of cash which is used on luxuries

    4) Tougher laws ie 3 counts and your out. If anyone breaks the law 3 times in a serious manner they will get life inside

    5) Death Penalty introduced for murder and acts of Terrorism against the state

    6) Royal family abolished - We cannot afford to pay for all the hanger on’s etc

    7) Anyone earning over 40K per year will be taxed 50% of there earnings and people earning under 40K will no longer have to pay tax

    8) Reintroduction of national service for misbehaving youths of today.

    Am I elected PM then?

Not a bad manifesto there Y Mab (personally I wouldn’t stop at just asylum seekers when it comes to immigration policy…).

I think your income tax policy might need a little bit of tweaking - it would mean someone earning £40,001 a year would take home half as much as someone on £20,000.

As for Cllr Bentley (remind me, which party is he with this week?), perhaps he’d like to tell us why a couple of bike wheels and a bit of bent wire on a roundabout are a dangerous distraction to motorists, but not signs saying “Available to Rent - Telford & Wrekin Council”?

  15. Y Mab Darogan said:

    OK how about a tier

anyone earning 40,001K pays 1% tax upto 100K where they pay 50% tax.

    That sounds better.

Anyway its only a draft pledge by myself which is more than the Tories are offering well apart from schoolyard taunts to Labour.

I think that all my proposals above would improve British society by 100%

  16. devon salopian said:

how about tiers for souvenirs. i would tax caravans and trailers £100, motor homes £300
    up to £20000 no tax,20000 to 50,000 25p, over 50,000 40p, 0ver 100,000 60p
    fags plus £1 a pack 20
    beer less 5p a pint
    other booze plus 10p
    er thats it

  17. Lucy W said:

Y Mab: A well though out manifesto but whats wrong with the Royals? They cost each Tax Payer 66p per annum! Now what can you buy for that and have such a good laugh?

  18. Y Mab Darogan said:

Right then, I’m PM elected on the Shropshire Star boards for the next 4 years then :o)
