Shropshire boxer Mark Lloyd is eyeing up the biggest pay day of his career - in front of the television cameras.
The 31-year-old from Shifnal has been selected to line-up in the Prizefighter Series for welterweights.
Lloyd will be one of eight boxers in action at the York Hall, Bethnal Green on Friday, October 24.
Four quarter-finals, two semi-finals and a final will be staged on one night, with each contests lasting a maximum of three rounds.
The overall winner will pocket the £25,000 top prize, with the runner-up earning £12,000. Losing semi-finalists will collect £8,000, with all eight boxers guaranteed a £4,000 pay day even if they lose in their first contest.
“It’s really exciting to be involved and I can’t wait,” said Midland champion Lloyd, a plumber by day.
“It’s a great opportunity for me and good exposure with it being on televisions. I will have to change my training a bit and I’ll be doing three rounds sparring, having a 30-minute break and then doing another three rounds and so on.”
Also in the field is former European light-welterweight champion Ted Bami and three boxers who have fought for minor versions of the world title including Ross Minter son of British legend Alan.
