One or two older Salopians may recognise themselves or their childhood pals on this picture. It was loaned to us by Mr Jim Kelsall, and is thought to be at the Lion Hotel, Shrewsbury, around the 1950s.
Mr Kelsall, who is from an old Shrewsbury family - although he lives in Oswestry now - thinks this might either be a Christmas party or connected with the Joan Kelsall School of Dancing, run by his sister Joan.
He says on the front row, the girl near centre appearing to tie her laces is Pauline Onions or Rosemary Onions.
The boy on the right near the front standing in a medium grey suit and looking to one side is his brother, Ron Kelsall.

I don’t reconize anyone in the photo but I wonder if we have the same family connections, my great grandfather William Hughes from Welshpool married Sara Davies from Buttington. Their son Harry born 1904 was my grandfather.
