
Forming the backdrop to this photo is the beautiful Long Mynd, while in the foreground we have a glimpse of Freddie Brown’s garage at Church Stretton.
Judging by the cars, it looks like the photo was taken in the 1970s.
We wonder what the price of the petrol at the pumps would have been then.
This picture comes from Ron Morris, of Dorrington, who used to live opposite the service station, and came to us via Shrewsbury historian and author David Trumper.

I don’t reconize anyone in the photo but I wonder if we have the same family connections, my great grandfather William Hughes from Welshpool married Sara Davies from Buttington. Their son Harry born 1904 was my grandfather.
