This should bring back memories for older folk connected to Pontesbury, as it shows Pontesbury and District Male Voice Choir in January 1952. The photo was loaned to us by Evelyn Corfield, who is on the front row. She was the accompanist. These days she lives in Whittington.
Those on the photo are identified as, back, from left: Alan Sambrook, Geoff Sambrook, Charlie Roberts, Harry Challinor, Brian Heath, Ken Evans, Ern Challinor.
Next row down: Dickie Jones, George Millward, Walter Trow, John Pugh, Bert Jones, Sam Overton, Alan Hartshorn, Graham Jones.
Next row: Billy Jones, “Billum” Jones, Bill Cleaton, Tom Corfield, Jack Overton, Neddy Challinor, and Jack Young.
Front: Brian Davies, Bert Challinor, Jim Jones (conductor), Evelyn Corfield (accompanist), Sam Thomas, Bill Titley, Len Titley, and Tom Brick.

I don’t reconize anyone in the photo but I wonder if we have the same family connections, my great grandfather William Hughes from Welshpool married Sara Davies from Buttington. Their son Harry born 1904 was my grandfather.
