Fatal and serious injuries on some of the region’s most dangerous roads have been cut by 70 per cent in the last five years, a meeting in Shropshire heard today.
West Mercia’s Safer Roads Partnership was holding its annual review at the Lord Hill Hotel in Shrewsbury today.
Partnership manager Trevor McAvoy said the reduction in accidents had saved the county £23 million a year.
Mr McAvoy said: “There has been a 70 per cent reduction in collisions involving fatal or serious injuries at sites where the partnership has been working at any time since April 2003.
“The reduction for all other collisions is 37 per cent.”

It would be interesting to see what the so called figures are for other sites not covered by cameras!
I’m with you on that one Brian(2). What about having all the relevant figures published in the Shropshire Star, if they are so good, lets see the details.
Time to stand up and be counted West Mercian Safer Roads Partnership. Come on, publish all the figures before ‘adjustments.’
