Specialist aquatic engineers are set to begin work to restore and safeguard the future of one of Powys’s important tourist attractions, the county council has revealed.
Blue Boar Contracts Limited, in conjunction with Powys County Council and consultants Capita Symonds, will carry out major engineering works at Llandrindod Lake from the start of October.
The Warwickshire-based company will manipulate the silt on the bed of the lake to create new banks and other re-profiling works around the lake.
The works are one of the elements to restore the ecological balance of the lake to prevent the re-occurrence of the events in 2006, where thousands of fish died of oxygen starvation caused by a breakdown of blue-green algae at the site.
Planting and managing suitable vegetation and fish management are also part of the long-term plans to restore the ecological balance of the lake.
