Sorry, but as the Town Park is a PUBLIC place, i will continue to sit and eat my lunch their.
After all as a tax payer, i pay for this space!

But can arrest someone who is single and breaking the law in the park?

It’s not the act of ‘citizens arrest’ I am commenting about – you can’t arrest someone for being ’single in a park’.

idon’tbelieveit – Anyone can carry out a citizens arrest on someone for breaking the law.

Unfortunately not many law abiding citizens choose to do this hence the yob rules culture in our country.

Sadly the T+W council have a poor record of accurate response to questions from the public.
It seems the only way to get an answer containing mostly,but not all, truth is via the freedom of in formation act.
So,what we need is a statement of fact issued for all to see and understand.
I applaud however the councils approach to child safety however misguided it may be.
Better by far to be safe rather than sorry.

Idontbelieveit – if you have faith in our country’s police force that is the way to go.

But in my experience when you call out the police to a act of crime ie car theft, burgulary etc the response time is over 2 hours.

I’m assuming you expect that the person acting illegally in the park will wait the 2 hrs for a police officer to arrive to arrest them, myself I would prefer a Park warden to be on the spot in 5 mins and if neccessary make a citizen’s arrest and apprehand the person until a member of the police force arrives 2 hrs later.

Of course this is all by the by as everyone realises that due to our prisons being overcrowded that anyone caught breaking the law will no doubt be given at the worst 100hrs community service and told by the judge to behave in future.

This is why T & W council have outlined these draconion measures.

Myself I say good on T & W council – if the police, judicial service will not protect the people of our country then its a darn good job that T & W council will stand in to stand up for our basic rights.

Y Mab Darogan, if anyone is acting illegally the police should be called to deal with it. If they are acting suspiciously then again the police are the people to question a ’suspect’ not council workers.
People legitiately choosing to enjoy outdoor space defined for public use should not be interrogated should they use it.
Unless we have suddenly jumped into Orwell territory?

Yet another piece of madness which is really just a continuation of last week’s debacle following the shambles with the bus pass letter. How much did it cost to put that right. How many thousands of letters had to be sent out to correct another communications shambles.
As for Councillor Eade’s statement that he is proud of Telford & Wrekin Council the message is clear. “come down from your ivory tower and get a reality check!!!!

will the male councillers not be allowed to eat there lunch at 1 a’clock in the park then,i love walking from tweedale along silkin way to the town centre,but will i have to cut across from the park just to avoid the park wardens,this country as totally lost it’s commonsence,i’ve got 3 lads aged 16-17-and 20 god help them when there 40ish,if i can’t walk through the park on my own then i’ll deduct 20% of my coucil tax and then lets see what happens,pc looneys win again crazzzzzzzy.

I agree with the council 100% on this – if anyone is acting suspiciously in the park they have a right to ask them to leave ie if they are doing anything illegal. This stance has not been taken to prejudance single persons but rather to protect young children
