Chairman Lee Carter is calling on AFC Telford United fans to roar their side back to winning ways in the Blue Square North.
The Bucks have suffered back-to-back defeats on the road, and the team was also booed off at the end of their last home outing - a goalless draw with Alfreton.
Now Carter wants to see a sea change in the mood at the New Bucks Head, starting with the visit of Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.
“We want everyone to be positive and very loud whilst they are in the stadium,” he said. “This is a big team effort and requires a contribution from everyone on and off the field.”
He added: “We have to do as much as we can to give the players and manager a lift.
“We have all got to make it happen rather than expect it to happen. In football you very rarely get what you expect if you expect too much.
“The stadium should be an escape from the doom and gloom outside. If we all pull together I have no doubt that more often than not the fans will be bouncing home along Watling Street rather than trudging along it.”
Carter has arranged for DVDs of famous Telford victories of years gone by to be screened in the concourses to get fans in the mood, and is urging people to turn up with banners and flags.
The Bucks were the bookies’ pre-season favourites for the title, and club officials have been quick to state their intent to challenge this season after a number of eye-catching summer signings.
“I don’t know as a club whether we’ve played it wrong,” Carter conceded.
“We’ve done nothing to dampen down expectations and in the three pre-seasons before this one we’ve always tried to keep things low key.
“Perhaps we’ve over-played it this time. We’re not throwing in the towel and and we’re not saying we shouldn’t expect to be up there, but we may have forgotten the key components of what is needed to succeed.”
