Centre adds extra late shopping night

One of Shropshire’s largest shopping centres today announced it was introducing late-night shopping on a permanent basis for Thursdays and Fridays.

Bosses at Telford Shopping Centre said that they were delighted to have agreed a deal to extend the opening hours with all of the major names among its shops taking part in the late night scheme.

The new venture will see the centre open until 8pm on a Thursday and Friday, starting tomorrow night

Late-night shopping is normally introduced in the countdown to Christmas and Thursdays have traditionally had longer opening hours for a select number of shops, but times have also now been changed on a Friday and with the majority of stores included.

The shopping centre, which includes such retail giants as Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, House of Fraser, Boots and The Range, is now planning a glittering launch.

To celebrate the first late- night Friday, retailers throughout the centre, including Asda, House of Fraser, Marks & Spencer and Lush, are planning a number of promotions and surprises. And the Centre itself will be host to live Caribbean themed music and entertainment.

Parking will also be free on Friday night to anyone arriving after 5pm.

Chris Jones, Telford Shopping Centre Director comments: “We recently asked shoppers what they wanted from their shopping centre and additional late- night opening was high on their wish list.

“I’m therefore pleased to announce that we have responded to this request.

“To celebrate our first late-night Friday, there’ll be treats and rewards for customers, including free parking, price promotions and giveaways, plus tropical entertainment which we hope will persuade the summer to hang on for just another few weeks!”

Free parking eh? Just for the celebration or permanently?

c’mon more and more people are quitting the ‘Centre’ for real towns - at least make a day or evenings free.

Actually I can confirm people are not quitting Telford town centre to shop elsewhere in fact the opposite - trade is booming at Telford Twon centre however trade is dropping off in small towns ie Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Wellington, Dawley etc in Shropshire
