People who live in Shrewsbury town centre are expected to raise concerns about levels of crime and anti-social behaviour at a community meeting that is taking place this month.
People in the Bagley electoral division, which covers the town centre, Greenfields, Herongate and Coton Hill, have been invited to air their views on issues at the area’s annual Let’s Talk meeting.
Councillors from Shropshire County Council and Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council will attend the meeting, giving people a chance to get their questions answered and their comments and concerns heard.
Roger Evans, Shropshire county councillor for the Bagley electoral division, said: “Our success in keeping Greenfields Post Office open shows that community action really works.
“We had a good attendance at the 2007 Let’s Talk meeting, which also covered Castlefields and Ditherington.
“This year we will only be looking at the Bagley area, and want as many people as possible to come along and tell us about what else matters to our local community.
“We particularly hope that more young people will attend this year, as we are especially keen to hear about the issues that matter to them.”
People are expected to discuss issues surrounding crime and local policing, flood prevention, traffic and road safety issues, and the new town council which will come into effect next April.
The meeting will also include a report on what has been done in response to issues raised last year.
Let’s Talk will be held on September 18 at the Gateway Centre, Chester Street, Shrewsbury, starting at 6pm.
