Larry Chambers believes there is still “more to come” from his AFC Telford United high-fliers as they prepare for the battle of the unbeaten records at Droylsden tomorrow.
The Bucks have won three and drawn two of their first five games to leave them amongst the early season pace-setters in Blue Square North.
But assistant manager Chambers is confident his team have yet to hit top gear.
“I was a bit surprised there was a bit of negativity around the place after the 0-0 draw with Alfreton,” said Chambers.
“From our point of view, we have got 11 points out of 15 which is a great start.
“But there is still more to come from the side - both individually and collectively - and we will get better.”
Chambers is braced for a stern test of his side’s credentials tomorrow from a side who have drawn four of their first five outings.
“I think Droylsden were on the pre-season favourites,” he added.
Margin
“They got relegated last season but won Blue Square North by quite a clear margin the season before, so they have had success at this level.
“They are a good footballing side who like to get the ball down and play so it will be another big test for us.”
Tomorrow’s encounter will see Terry Fearns and Steve Jagielka returning to their former clubs - and the Bucks report no fresh injury problems on the back of long-term victims Indy Khela, Matty Lewis and Jimmy Turner.
Simon Forsdick and Asa Charlton will continue their rehabilitation with games elsewhere.
Charlton, who has been featuring for Shifnal recently, will play for Stourbridge while Chambers and manager Rob Smith were today working to tie up a club for Forsdick.
The Bucks management team are anxious neither player become ineligible for the FA Cup by playing in first qualifying round ties tomorrow.
