New venue to buy Shrews tickets

Football fans can now get tickets for Shrewsbury Town Football Club home games from the Shrewsbury Visitor Information Centre in The Square.

For this season the visitor information centre, based in the Music Hall, has been allocated a block of seats in the West Stand of the Prostar Stadium.

Tickets for home games at the Oteley Road ground will be available the week before each game and will be on sale until the day before the match.

This will be good news for the 1,500 extra regular supporters the team has attracted since its move last season from the old Gay Meadow ground in the town centre to its new stadium.

Officials from the football club and Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council believe the town centre location will encourage more people to buy tickets.

Clare Brown, Shrewsbury Visitor Information Centre assistant, said: “Staff are delighted to be able to offer fans the opportunity to purchase tickets for the home games in the town centre.”

The team’s next home match will be a league match on Saturday, September 13, against Gillingham.

Kick-off will be at 3pm and tickets will be available from the visitor information centre from the previous Saturday.

For more information contact the VIC on (01743) 281200. The centre is open from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
