A pedestrian using a zebra crossing in Market Drayton has been hurt in a hit-and-run crash.
The woman was injured after being struck by a car being driven by an elderly woman as she used the crossing in Maer Lane.
Police officers are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.
Constable Simon Fearn, who is investigating the crash, said: “I am particularly keen to speak with another pedestrian who was on the crossing at the time and who we believe will have seen this happen.
“Another car, heading away from town, had stopped at the pedestrian crossing to allow the lady to cross, but when she was about halfway over, a car coming the other way failed to stop and was in collision with her left side,” Constable Fearn added.
“I would urge the driver of the car which stopped to also come forward as I believe he or she will have also seen this happen.
“The car that failed to stop was black or dark in colour, a hatchback and may have had five doors.
“Its driver was an elderly lady with white hair,” he said.
The victim suffered minor injuries to her left arm and hip in the incident on Wednesday, which happened between 1pm and 1.10pm.
Constable Fearn said: “If anyone has information about this incident or knows the identity of the driver, I would ask them to please contact me on 08457 444888.”
