Turbines scheme doomed, says MP

The MP for North Shropshire has welcomed the news that plans to build a massive wind farm have been dealt a blow.Owen Paterson said he hoped Nuon Renewable’s application to build a seven turbine windfarm at Norton-in-Hales would now be withdrawn.

Members of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council’s planning committee threw out plans to create a road leading to the facility - which sits just inside the Shropshire border, but is accessed from Staffordshire - earlier this week.

Mr Paterson said today: “This must kill it. I have never known an issue in 11 years which has seen such universal opposition.

“Nuon should stop wasting time and money and withdraw.”

Nuon is to challenge the council’s decision.

North Shropshire District Council development control committee will discuss the application on September 2 at 7pm.

Owen Paterson says: “Nuclear power? Yes, please!”

But not in your constituency, eh? That’s the ticket!
