Tony and Maureen Bickerton, of Hollinswood in Telford, were left shell-shocked when the egg Mr. Bickerton was cooking for breakfast laid an egg of its very own. “I…got the egg ready and cracked it into the pan thinking it might be a double-yolker because it was large,” Mr. Bickerton explained. “Then I noticed there was another egg inside the first egg.”
Alistair Young, poultry board chairman for the National Farmers’ Union West Midlands, said he had never heard of an egg inside an egg before. “It’s rather unusual,” he said. “But it could have been created when if one egg got stuck inside the chicken and another shell formed around it.”
