Charley’s Aunt at the castle

ChampagneHop into your glad rags and join acclaimed theatre company Heartbreak for a dazzling performance of Brandon Thomas’s world renowned comedy Charley’s Aunt.

The outdoor production will take place in the historic grounds of Shrewsbury Castle as part of Shrewsbury Music Hall’s summer season on Thursday August 21 at 7.30pm.

Set in the grounds of Oxford University in the Edwardian era, the play follows the student days of two undergraduates at a time when finding a chaperone was vital to your chances of talking to the opposite sex.

Frantic antics abound in this perfect summer farce with cross-dressing, mistaken identity, love-sick youngsters and a rich, widowed aunt from Brazil (”where the nuts come from”).

Audiences are invited to bring their own chairs, rugs and picnics. Tickets are priced £13 on the door or £11 in advance.
