We can’t explain the letterbox effect on this photo of Horsehay and Dawley railway station. Maybe it was something to do with the cameras at the time. And the time it was taken looks to be very early, perhaps even not that long after the station was opened. Those on the platform are no doubt station staff who may have been under instructions to stand very still so, with the long exposure times of the day, they did not end up as ghostly blurred images.Picture via David Trumper.
