Hales horse is a late call-up

7537431.jpgThere will be Shropshire interest in the Olympic showjumping competition - with county-owned Russell getting an eleventh hour call-up from the reserve list to compete.

Russell - owned by Shropshire businessman John Hales, his wife Pat and daughter Lisa - will jump for Team GB under Nick Skelton after Michael Whitaker’s Portofino was forced to pull out with an injury today.

Lisa was today making hasty plans to fly out to China to watch, and backed Skelton and Russell to perform well after helping their team to victory in the Nations Cup in Dublin at the start of this month.
