Andrew Beesty, 32, of Bayston Hill, admitted affray and three charges of common assault when he appeared before Shrewsbury Crown Court earlier in the week.

Judge Robin Onions, who had adjourned his case until yesterday to see if Beesty could find somewhere to live, was told yesterday he had not been able to find accommodation.

He heard Beesty had responded well to programmes while on remand over the past three months.

The court was told that police were called after Beesty pulled his girlfriend’s hair and punched her when she was on the floor.

When the police arrived he threw a meat cleaver at one officer and plates at another.
