Plans to tackle flooding in Powys and Shropshire are set for further examination due to the level of interest shown in them.
The Environment Agency has outlined proposals to cut downstream flooding along the rivers Severn and Vyrnwy, following the severe flooding which affected the region last summer.
However, it was revealed one idea was to allow more flooding upstream in Powys, to protect properties further downstream.
Mick Bates, Welsh Assembly member for Montgomeryshire, had opposed the plans.
Following a meeting with Agency officials this week, Mr Bates says he is now hopeful further consultations on the matter will take place.
