A brewer who set up his own company just a year ago today revealed his Bridgnorth business was sinking due to the economic slump.
Father-of-four Andrew Brough, of Wolverhampton, warned the future was uncertain for Bridgnorth Brewing Co Ltd as drinkers tighten their belts.
The 30-year-old used to be head brewer at Sarah Hughes Brewery in Dudley but set up his own business in January 2007.
“We just don’t know what’s going to happen,” he said today. “At the moment we’re still trading but I don’t know what will happen in the future.
“We are a new business and expanded pretty quickly and accomplished a lot in our first year, but we are struggling now.
“The credit crunch and struggling economy means trade is really tight.”
Bridgnorth Brewing Co Ltd produces Bridgnorth Best Bitter, Apley Ale, Northgate Gold, Bishop Percy, Old Mo and Wesgate Winter Warmer.
The brewery is in the courtyard of The King’s Head in Whitburn Street, Bridgnorth.

this is not good news, as most micro breweries are riding the storm at present with suitable outlets in the free trade area, that is free houses. my advice is to reduce the number of beers to 2 or 3 until the storm passes.
