Wolves have handed a trial to experienced left-sided defender Ben Thatcher.
The 32-year-old is a free agent after his release from Championship rivals Charlton in the summer and is yet to be signed, with just nine days to go until the Football League season kicks off.
He was thought to be headed to another Championship side in Ipswich, with the Tractor Boys reported to be offering a one-year deal with a 12-month option.
Now he checks into Compton training ground, where he joins another trial player in Ian Harte. Manager Mick McCarthy is known to want a left-sided central defender.
Although Thatcher is naturally a left-back, he has performed in the centre of defence at various points in his 15-year career.
The former Wales international has over 300 league appearances under his belt and has never played below the second tier of English football.
He began his career at Millwall, moving onto Wimbledon, Tottenham, Leicester, Manchester City and Charlton.
