A 26-year-old man accused of murdering his two flatmates in a flat above a Shropshire chip shop appeared in court today and was remanded in custody.
Sukhdev Singh, who is accused of murdering Jaswant Singh Bajwa, 30, and Kulwant Singh Dodar, 31, spoke only to confirm his name at Stafford Crown Court .
Singh, who denies murdering the men between December 5 and 8 last year, at the flat above Shawbury Fish Bar, in Drayton Road, Shawbury, will stand trial in October.
Mr Balbir Singh, representing Singh, said psychiatric reports had been prepared but they were still waiting for an anthropological report to be prepared.
Mr Singh told Mr Justice Saunders today members of his client’s legal team had completed their trip to India to gather evidence.
Mr Justice Saunders remanded Singh in custody until the start of his trial on October 7.
Mr Bajwa worked with Singh at the Shawbury Fish Bar, where the bodies were found.
Mr Dodar worked at Moston Road Fish Bar, Harlescott, Shrewsbury.
The bodies of the two men were discovered on December 7 in the flat above the chip shop in Drayton Road.
Post-mortem examinations revealed that the men died of head injuries.
More than 100 police officers and support staff worked on the enquiry until Singh, also known as Dave or Shera, was arrested in Smethwick five days after the discoveries were made.
