Harte has his chance at Wolves

ian-harte.jpegIan Harte could win extra time to prove himself at Wolves as boss Mick McCarthy continues to assess the former Republic of Ireland international.

The 30-year-old left-back, who is a free agent after leaving Sunderland, has played a part in the last three friendlies as he builds up his fitness levels.

Former Leeds defender has impressed McCarthy and the Wolves chief is now considering offering the 64-capped international longer to prove he is worth a contract.

He said: “I’m not putting any time limits on it because there will be headlines saying ‘time ticking for Ian Harte.”

“I don’t get wrapped up in all that. I’m far too long in the tooth to be giving it all that nonsense.

“Initially, he came for us to have a look at him for two weeks so we might extend it - or not.”
