In the latest report, a Telford stargazer has reported seeing unexplained multi-coloured objects in the skies above the town.

Robert Davies, 31, from Arleston, says he saw the objects in the early hours of June 25 - the same day reports emerged of strange phenomena hovering above Clive Barracks at Tern Hill.

His claim comes just weeks after a group of unidentified flying objects were reportedly spotted and filmed by a soldier at his barracks near Market Drayton.

Mr Davies said when he compared his footage with the soldier’s video the similarity was uncanny.

“It sent a shiver down my spine as I, too, had footage of a UFO and it was very similar,” he said.

“At about 2.30am there was a loud noise which flew over the house.

“It was incredibly loud, almost like a jet breaking the sound barrier.”

Self-employed Mr Davies, who describes himself as a “sceptic”, investigated further and saw a “massive light” hovering about a quarter-of-a-mile above Arleston.

“I couldn’t make out its shape or form,” he said. “It just looked like a massive star.

“I grabbed my mobile and began to film the object through the kitchen window. When I zoomed in, I could clearly see the object was flashing every single colour you could imagine.”

Although he admits he has no idea what he saw he said it could have been military technology because a fleet of helicopters turned up during the sighting.

“It was just hovering in the same place silently and it continued to flash and change colours all the time,” he said.

“After a few minutes I began to hear helicopters flying in the distance from behind me very fast. I’m surprised the whole street didn’t wake up to the noise.”

Obviously must be an object from outer space being piloted by extra-terestrial intellegent lifeforms. No chance that it’s a perfectly harmless and easily explainable natural or man-made entity…

    I despair.

Didn’t that soldier’s ‘UFO’ experience turn out to be a Chinese lantern released from a nearby hotel?

Reminds me of that Welsh guy who reported seeing a UFO to the police which turned out to be the moon.

Drunk, dreaming or daft, it’s always one of the three.

Why does Shropshire have so many UFOs?

Well, it’s because there are so many villages in Shropshire, and each village of course is equipped with its own idiot.
I should know, because I’m the local idiot in my village - I replaced the original idiot when beamed down from a spaceship 2 years ago and no one’s noticed yet (not even the wife!)

Perhaps it’s because you can actually SEE the sky in Shropshire ?? Since I moved to the South East I’ve noticed how bad the light pollution is -it’s so built up everywhere you can only see the moon and brightest stars, even on a clear night. Just a yellow glow in most directions.

shropshire may indeed have had what is called a ‘flap’ of ufo sightings , but the mod have decided not to investigate on the strength of the lantern issue.
personally i don’t think that the mod can afford to be complacent about our ukairdefence , and it worries me that the airforce is underfunded and ill prepared for any type of incident in our skies.

Re: UFO siting from the Tern Hill barracks on June 7th/8th - this siting was due to 75 lanterns being lit and sent up into the sky at my son’s wedding reception - Mr David Simpson and Miss Kerry Timmis (now Kerry Simpson). I am surprised that this story was not updated to reflect the facts to the public. The soldiers at Tern Hill were just doing their jobs - any sitings of lights in the sky HAVE to be reported. In hinesight we should perhaps have let the barracks know what we were planning. If we did it again anytime time then we certainly would. But definately NO UFOs on 7th/8th July 2008. Let the public know the facts. Regards David’s Mum

Jill Simpson - you may have let some Ballons up into the air however the lights were seen by the Barracks and by people on the A5, Long Mynd - unless the lanterns can travel in circles I very much doubt your lanterns were the source of the UFO’s

Also worth noting sames lights were reported over Liverpool and cardiff bay

My neighbor and I were talking this evening about UFOs over Shropshire when an Orange glowing ball flew across the sky roughly from east to west. I took 2 photographs of the object which was followed shortly afterwards by a second similar object traveling in the same direction. Probably some form of lantern or balloon, but an interesting coincidence never the less.

Having seen the flying cubes with my own eyes in the wee hours of 8th june, I can categorically say that they were not lanterns as they were the size of a mini bus.

I spotted a huge ball of blue light in the sky on 22nd July at about 10.45 PM- no it wasnt the moon- I believe that it may have been ball lightning- as I am not a nutter and understand the diference between the unexplainable and the easily explained despite what some of you might think ! :)
