Work to build a visitor centre in the Ironbridge Gorge is to start this month.
Planning chiefs have given the green light for the centre that will be created at Blists Hill Victorian Museum in Legges Way, Madeley.
It forms part of a £12 million scheme to carry out a series of improvements across the Ironbridge Gorge Museums.
Paul Gossage, spokesman for Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust, said the centre forms a transition point from the 21st century car park into the 19th century Victorian town.
He said: “Work will be starting immediately on building the visitor centre.
“They’ve been doing early preparations. It will be a gateway to the world heritage site.”
Telford & Wrekin Council had approved the visitor centre in principle, but the details have now been approved.
The centre will be partially cut into a bank near the existing museum entrance at Blists Hill.
