As most of the Town players head off into the sun to Almeria on a training camp some of those staying behind must be fearing for their futures, writes Shrews blogger James Pugh.
After the list was announced of those staying in this country to continue their training, there were no real surprises and it was the players who I expected that Simpson was looking to offload – Madjo, Kempson and Meredith.
Until we can offload these then I doubt there will be any new faces coming through the door.
As Simpson looks to trim his squad, James Constable is the latest man to leave. Although Simpson says he still has a future at the club, the fact that he cannot recall him and that it’s a year-long loan suggests to me that we won’t see him pull on a Town shirt again.
From his short time at the club he did a decent job and worked hard, but after the new signings he fell way down the pecking order. However, if he scores plenty of goals for Oxford, he is still a young man who could make it at a higher level. Whether its for Shrewsbury – we shall see!
Let’s hope the players don’t enjoy the sun too much and work hard on getting themselves fit ready for the new season. I haven’t look forward to a new season as a Town fan more than I have for this one and can’t wait to see the new squad perform in the friendlies and then to the main business of the league, starting against Macclesfield.
Where do fans think the Town will finish next season and who will be our top scorer?
On a negative note I was outraged that we didn’t receive the money for Joe Hart from Man City after it was decided that England’s game against Trinidad and Tobago was not a competitive one – what nonsense.
Let’s hope we won’t have too much longer to wait.

A good article James and I also share your views about the forthcoming season. Providing we can maintain a passing phylosophy and give good service to our attractive forwards then the prognosis is good. This type of approach can only be worked on on the training ground and in friendlies. Lets hope that Paul SIMPSON has the know how to bring the best of the players he has. Good luck Town.
