Golfers closing on historic title

Shropshire & Herefordshire’s golfers have taken a massive stride towards landing an historic first ever Midlands League title.

Nigel Chesters’ side were 8-7 away winners over Warwickshire at Copt Heath yesterday, defeating one of the favourites for the championship and the team which finished second in the EGU County Championship Midlands qualifier last month.

It is only the second time S&H have defeated Warwickshire in 35 years, and leaves them with a 100 per cent record after their opening two matches.
